Cookbook Love

20111025-204103.jpg

Do you know what makes Tuesdays more bearable? The release of a new cookbook!

I can’t wait to test out some new recipes. Now I just need to decide what I want to make and who I would like to give it to.

Any cookbook suggestions? I find that I like to read them like novels :)

It’s an obsession

42 to be exact… That is the number of cookbooks that I have crammed on the shelf in the kitchen. I know that as I admit this it will come back and bite me later.(picture this the next time I am browsing Barnes and Noble with Justin and I lovingly gaze at a new cookbook… I have a feeling he will remind me of this blog post.) Anyways I admit that cookbooks are amazing and creating new dishes can be quite exciting. Here are some pictures of a couple of my favorites.

What is something that you have way to many of?

Side note… I’d love to hear your thoughts/suggestions on topics for the blog… so leave a comment :)

Barefoot Contessa is back

Barefoot Contessa is back with a new cookbook and I could not be more excited. The cookbook is named how easy is that?. My mom and I share the same love of reading cookbooks and I’m sure she is heading over right after she reads this post to buy this new one. The passion to cook  comes from my mother but also comes from Ina Garten (“the Barefoot Contessa”). Many of the recipes my mom makes that I love have come from the Barefoot Contessa cookbooks and TV show. I will name just a few for you: Chocolate Chunk Cookies, String Beans with Shallots, Tequila Lime Chicken, and the Parmesan Chicken (my little brother has requested this more times than I count).  I cannot give you too much of a review yet because I just got the cookbook , but I did see her on the Today Show on Tuesday. Her Mocha Chocolate Icebox Cake looked delish. Here is a link to the article and it has recipes! (http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/39837298/ns/today-foodwine ) My mom says that the Barefoot Contessa Mocha Chocolate Icebox Cake will be an addition to the Seligman Thanksgiving Dessert Table this year. (I’m sure it will be fantastic!) I have looked into pricing on this cookbook and I found that I got the best deal at Borders but they do also carrry it at Barnes and Noble,  Books A Million, and Amazon.

O.M.G. I found it!

Oh my gosh… (kinda reminds me of Janice from friends) I found the Cake Pops book by Bakerella at Barnes and Noble by Lake Calhoun. I am somewhere between giddy and obsessed. It’s Friday afternoon and after taking myself to the doctor for a flu shot and a tetnis shot… I realized….. this girl deserves a present. My mother would be so proud of me I did not shed one tear. Plus memories of when I was a child surfaced and how when I did not cry after a shot I did receive a present. So yes… it’s Friday… and yes I bought myself another cookbook… and I know Justin is saying I need another cookbook like people need more pencils or something… but I just had to. This book is all about cake balls and cake pops. I have not read through too much of it yet but I already know it is pure genius. Boxed cake mix+ store bought frosting+ candy coating+ lollipop sticks= fantastic! I highly suggest you buy this book and get creative…. you will fall in love just like I did!

Rain, Rain, Go Away…

It’s raining cats and dogs here and as I sit curled up with a blanket watching America’s Got Talent I thought I would fill you in on a great new cookbook I got this summer. It’s called 500 Cupcakes .  I can’t wait to try making the Cookies and Cream Cupcake and the Pop Rocks Cupcake.  I‘ll fill you in on how they turn out. I’m going to go relax now. It’s been a bit crazy this week since my schedule was altered a bit with nannying after school.  Look for  a great new recipe on Saturday. I’m hosting Break  Fast this year so you know I will have a Southern twist to add to it.
