Words cannot begin to describe the lunch that Justin and I had at the New Scenic Cafe this past Sunday. When we pulled into the parking lot I was already in love with the garden full of tulips and the amazing view of Lake Superior. My husband being the brilliant man that he is called early in the week and made us a lunch reservation. I am so glad he did this because there were many people waiting when we arrived at 1:00. We started by splitting the roasted beets cider haricot vert frisee shepherd’s way “hidden falls” browned butter hazelnut. I like beets but I would not say they are my favorite vegetable. After having this salad I told Justin that I would be happy eating this salad at least once a week. (that’s how much I liked it)

(I snapped this right after Justin took his half. It did not look like this when it arrived to our table.)
We each got our own main dish. Justin had the prime rib dip which consisted of a torpedo roll with poblanos, onion, gruyere, and was served with a cup of french onion soup. He was quick to note that he would definitely order this again.

I decided on a special that day which was crispy wonton shells that were stuffed with seared ahi tuna and avocado and was accompanied with a cilantro peanut slaw. (just typing this makes me hungry!)
We did not order dessert because we had a spot we wanted to try later for dessert. I cannot praise this restaurant enough. I would highly recommend it for lunch/dinner.
We have only been home 7 hours and I already want to plan another trip to Duluth so I can eat here again.
Side Note- New Scenic Cafe is mentioned in the Mpls St Paul Magazine this month.
Now here’s the question… Who wants to go back with me?
Smiles,
Erica
